Seasons 1-8 are when shippers put bids on two shipping shipments using the uShip platform in a reverse auction format. Bids are accompanied by comments on possible risks and potential costs as well as the motivations and the capabilities. The job is typically awarded to the bidder with the lowest bid when the auction is over. At the discretion of the buyer the job may be awarded to a bidder who has received a better score from past clients' feedback. To break any ties, feedback ratings are used. Season 9 will see shippers receive their cargo from a shipping company. The bidding process isn’t depicted. Shippers load their cargos and try to deliver it in good in good condition by the time specified by the client or receiver. Feedback ratings from clients appear after the loads have been delivered. Each shipper's revenue, as well as the costs (fuel, labor and late-delivery penalties) are displayed on screen at the conclusion. The bid amount is subtracted in order to calculate the total loss and profit. Sometimes, shippers will offer to transport additional loads on the same journey. The extra money is then added to their total. Sometimes there will be times when the shipper is unable to complete a job due to concerns regarding load size/weight or road safety. Sometimes, one shipper will hire the help of another shipper in order to complete a job. The shippers will then decide which way to split profits. In the first eight seasons, the progress of each shipment is interspersed with hilarious criticisms from the other shippers.
